Come and Listen!

Several years ago, when I was a school child at the Darvell Bruderhof, our school choir travelled to Ireland and performed a lively collection of folksongs and songs of peace all over the country, spreading positive joy to a land of raging conflict. So when an Irish pub owner recently asked us at the Parkview Bruderhof House if we could provide some entertainment for his customers, I thought, why not try to spread the same spirit here in Albany?

We put together a small group: a few good strong voices, a guitar, and a drum, and spent two hours at the Washington Tavern. Our singing not only brought us joy, but the joy that was spread was undeniable. People smiled, cheered, and clapped as they enjoyed the food and drink – even the old regulars at the bar put down their glasses and came over to listen. A crowd gathered at surrounding tables and heartily absorbed the music.

As I rediscovered, there is something refreshing about spirited singing.

Please come and hear us! We’d love to put a smile on your face.
