How Great Thou Art: A Hymn for God's Own Country

August 7, 2017 by

My last blog featured a video of the Danthonia property and the very visible changes to the land. Today I want to give you a guided tour to some of the most loved places of the Danthonia community via a unique project recently completed by the Danthonia high school students.

To commemorate the end of the school year, the students were inspired to create a music video using the hymn “How Great Thou Art.” They wanted to worship God with song and through the glorious details of his creation.

The students arranged the singing, wrote and performed their own instrumental interludes and then blitzed through recording sessions. Once the music tracks were laid, they drove a ute into the paddocks, hiked up Grass Tree Knoll, walked by the creek and scaled Swan Peak to get the onsite shots. For a few weeks back in June and early July, the strains of this great, old hymn could be heard across the valley as the students sang in situ.

Now, it’s ready for you to enjoy and share.
