Song of the Month for January 2019: Skies Are Blue As Blue Can Be

January 23, 2019 by

If you don’t enjoy winter, you just aren’t doing it right. This Swedish folk tune with words by Rose Miles celebrates the joy of a sunny winter day with lots of snow, a steep hill, and a sled in tow. Enjoy Maple Ridge School’s rendition of this Bruderhof favorite.

Listen on SoundCloud.

Skies are blue as blue can be,
So bring your sleds and come with me.
O’er the drifted gleaming snow
The happy breezes lightly blow.

Heigh-ho! Loud we cry!
Heigh-ho! Darting by.
Heigh-ho! See us fly! Down we go!

Swift as swallows we will sweep
A-down the hillside long and steep,
Darting to the plain below
With laughing faces all aglow.

Heigh-ho! Loud we cry!
Heigh-ho! Darting by.
Heigh-ho! See us fly! Down we go!
