Song of the Month for May 2020: In It To Win It

May 25, 2020 by

I live in New York. For weeks now my city has been known as the center of the Covid-19 crisis. Although true, I think the resilience and determination of survivors and first responders should be recognized and applauded. This is what inspired the lyrics of this song. We do what we do not only because we have to but because we are “In it to win it.” Winning can mean recovery, hoping, praising God, or just dancing! I hope you enjoy the song and its message. Thank you to Anna Wipf for your readiness to harmonize and Robin Harrison my faithful sound engineer!

Peace, Ruben Ayala

In It To Win It!

Oh…..

Thousands sick and unemployed

The lines grow ever long

This city silent people home

The sirens clearly sound

But growing through this dark façade

The few but faithful here

This city sick we know can bloom

Like a firework at new year

Hard work, love and sun revive the body
Songs like this revive the sad souls story
Faith in God and Christ revive the spirit (yeah)
We are young have life in it to win it (oh)
We are young have life in it to win it
Oh oh oh oh …….

People come and people go

Like shadows in the night

Neighbors and family living alone

We are not free to fight

But if we turn our heads and see

The shining sun above

Its rays can shatter every bond

And turn the world to love

Hard work, love and sun revive the body
Songs like this revive the sad souls story
Faith in God and Christ revive the spirit (yeah)
We are young have life in it to win it (oh)
We are young have life in it to win it
Oh oh oh oh …….

The New York Times, we know it says

“it’s the second Depression”

People still shooting, stabbing around

Far more pain to come

But pressing on Jesus demands

New life, new joy, new hope!

And shooting pain is not the end

To God, our lives devote!

Hard work, love and sun revive the body
Songs like this revive the sad souls story
Faith in God and Christ revive the spirit (yeah)
We are young have life in it to win it (oh)
We are young have life in it to win it
Oh oh oh oh …….
